Pheasant’s Tail Grass is just one of the very descriptive common names for this wonderful grass. As the arching foliage matures in late summer, deep reddish-orange hues develop, enhanced by rusty red feathery flowers.
A sunny border with free draining soil, or even stony ground are the best conditions for successful growing. Ideal for a coastal or informal garden, it also contrasts well with perennials such as Achillea and Verbena rigida. To avoid self seeding, remove the flowers above the foliage in late autumn.
