Geranium pyrenaicum ‘Bill Wallis’
Height x Spread: 45cm x 60cm
Masses of small, vivid, purple-blue flowers with purple veins stud this popular perennial’s gently spreading, mid-green rounded foliage. Famed for its long-flowering period from late spring to late autumn, it makes a very attractive and effective ground cover, smothering weeds.
It is also a notorious self-seeder and may gently wander along the front of your border, or take up residence in your gravel garden or brick path. Unwanted seedlings are easily pulled out. This dainty but tough plant also looks good planted beneath roses. It will tolerate any soil that is not waterlogged, but prefers a fairly fertile free-draining soil in full sun or part shade.
