Commonly known as the Ladybird Poppy or the Caucasian Scarlet Poppy, slender stems bear large cup-shaped flowers made up of four crimson-red petals each with a distinctive black blotch. This self-seeding annual forms a clump of featherlike grey-green foliage at its base.
An eye catching addition to a cottage garden or an annual flower meadow and also great for some early colour in a ‘hot’ garden. Full sun and any reasonable, well-drained soil are best for Papaver commutatum.
